(as per Saturday Programme Notes)
Two years ago, long standing supporter Nick Cave embarked on one of the most ambitious projects in the history of the Supporters Trust. He re-opened and staffed the hugely successful café under the South Stand. The café over the two years has gone from success to success; repeatedly breaking its own records in terms of takings - but also in terms of offering top class service to supporters (both Home and Away).
With a full time role in Catering away from the Rec, running the Trust Café has been a huge ask. So after two years Nick has decided that its time to pass the baton over ! Tommy and the Trust board thank Nick for his dedication and professionalism. Probably even more worthy of our appreciation is Nick's wife Ewa - who is almost always seen at Nick's side in the café (despite having no interest in the football!). Its been a real family effort and we are unable to find words that express our significant gratitude. We hope you can sit back and enjoy the football next season Nick!
Nick himself adds: "I really do hope that the Trust can keep the cafe open next season, it has a really good atmosphere in there on match days".
So here is the important bit: In order to keep the Café operational we need to find a volunteer Manager with Catering experience. The Trust had already started to formulate plans to staff the café using catering students - but oversight and co-ordination is needed for stock purchase, control and takings. If anyone is able to help (or knows someone who might) please contact us urgently on email@example.com.
Key tasks would be opening up (and preparing for the match day around 3 hours prior to kick off) and then closing down and cashing up after the game. Please do contact us if you have any ideas in this regard.
