Crowds

Postby steveclivebaker » Tue Apr 18, 2017 4:25 pm

Since the 52 week contracts were announced we have had 2 home crowds totalling 7000
we would normally expect around 4000. My maths is not great but 3000 extra fans must
have increased revenue by about £30000 and with Braintree still to come this should
cover the extra 2 months wages.

Yes Tranmere will be a massive crowd they will bring 2000 hopefully.
Do we keep our gate receipts from the play off final at Wembley ?.

About 1,300 I think. Would Tranmere bring 2,000 mid week I doubt it.

That's good 6400 tickets for us then.

Maybe a tad optimistic - depends to an extent on the final game. Some fag packet calculations:

(a) Squad size = 20 players
(b) Average salary = £25,000
(c) Total wage bill per year = £500,000 (a * b)
(d) Weekly wage bill = approx 11,000 (c/44)
(e) Additional weeks to pay = 8 (52-44)
(f) Total extra payment = approx. 88,000 (d * e)

Even if you dropped the current average wage down to £20K it racks up to over £70K for the extra 8 weeks.

Countering that I'd guess the average gate money per person at around £14 per head - so 3,000 extra would generate £42,000. The club has to pay tax on that though although I don't know what rate.

Beat Ferriby and what would we get for Braintree - 4,000? That would bring the extra headcount up to 5,000 = approx. £70,000 pre-tax.

I think break-even would require making the play-offs which would probably bring close to a 5,000 crowd.

We need to get in the playoffs first, then we can talk about Tranmere, dont get carried away, but its hard not too. Yh it was great to see that crowd yesterday and its a achievement in itself to get the crowds back

20 players wont get 52 week contracts. Work it out with 13 players

The two times we have reached the Play Offs in this division the home legs have been over 6,000 against Hereford 6,300 and Carlisle 6,600. When we got their against Rotherham in League 2 the crowd for the home leg was about 5,300 if I remember. I think a home leg against Tranmere midweek would be around 5,000. We got to make it first. A long way to go and Dovers place to lose.
