Fanzine

Postby Aldershot_Rob » Thu Apr 20, 2017 7:53 pm

We were having a conversation today at work that got onto the subject of fanzines and I was just wondering, have we ever had a fanzine?
I have vague recollections of one some years back but I could be imaging that.

Yes, A Shot in The Dark is the one I remember. If you're ever interested in parting with a copy I'd be a happy recipient

We certainly did, and I would love Pat and Richard to do some more. They did a great job but I think the problem they had was getting fans to participate. They printed around 300 each time at £1 or 2 euro's each copy. Some have been mentioned, there was also 90210. I have most of them in my crazy shots collection. Bring them back please Pat and Richard.

Thanks Anon-E-Mouse . I knew I wasn't going completely mad.

Paul - would be great to see a fanzine at the Shots. Do Pat & Richard use this site?

There was also "RTS" (Resurrecting the Shots) magazine in the first season 1992-93 (which also published a book called "Welcome to the Resurrection!

They even were the match sponsors of the last "Home" game of that season, v Kingsbury Town!

In addition to the excellent Shots in the Dark there were a couple of others in the early 90's - one called 'The Enigma' (about Ian Stewart - I think there was only one issue) and one called something like 'Hotshots', which always had the whiff of being an official publication masquarading as a fanzine as it was very uncritical (and there was certainly plenty to criticise back then).

I still have my Desperate Darren t-shirt, plus several copies of Shots In the Dark, Redan Blue and Redan Hill 90210.
Going back further, does anyone else remember the club's own newspaper, Shots News? I have several of these. I think it is around the time the club banned the Aldershot News from the Rec.
