Aldershot Town and Aldershot f.c.

Postby lanternhall » Fri Nov 03, 2017 3:58 pm

I have supported Aldershot for 40 years. Aldershot f. c.. went bust and then we had Aldershot Town.
To me they are one and the same. Some of my posts reflect that. To me it is just my football club.

What do people think. Forget the past?

Nothing has changed.

Will be in the same situation if not worse in 10 years, hurts me to say.

I've supported Aldershot football club for over 70 years, it doesn't matter to me what letters they tag on to the end of Aldershot as far as I'm concerned. :) I agree with you lanternhall.

Putting all the legal entity stuff to one side and viewing it emotionaly I think we are rather like AFC Wimbledon, we are a new club but we own the history so people who view us as the same club and those that view us as a new club are I think both right

After the absolute nightmare of the thought of no ATFC in 92 I am very happy to be where we are now.
Whats wrong with being a good non league team with a good chance of reaching league 2 soon.
We have a lovely old ground, a good football team and over 2000 supporters that's good enough for me.

Felt different in 92, feels the same now, although staying at the Rec is key to that... :D

I can't argue with that. If you are happy where we are. Fair enough. Personally I want more.

Don't think many understood your original post Latern - the point i think we both are making is that little forward thinking / progression ever happens just like the original club.

Wouldn't it be great to have a updated Rec, better facilities. More connection with the local community/schools etc etc. Not just how the team are doing and league we are in.

Doing this stuff will give the club a platform to eventually grow into forfilling our dreams not just stay stagnant or worse.

That's my biggest frustration with us that we will be looking at the same falling down stadium with little money for ever.

A big reason is that we don't own our ground. In my humble opinion R. B. C. should have signed it over years ago.

Farnborough got a new ground. Why? Where is their support. Me thinks there is something wrong there.
