Sad passing of Janet Chambers

Post by Terry Owens » Sat Apr 14, 2018 12:50 pm

It is with much regret to inform Shots Supporters of the sudden passing of Jan Chambers, who lost her battle with cancer on Thursday ( 12th April ).

This information may come as a shock to some of the Shots Fans who would not be aware of her brave battle, but she never let the fight dull her sparkle and remember,if she regarded you as a friend you were truly blessed.

Jan was a fantastic Shots supporter and I have known her for 49 years. I was able to visit Jan a few times as and when she was in the local Farnham Hospital, but she always got back home again from these hospital stays, which is a strong indication of her fantastic fighting spirit and her love for her family and home life.

During my time as Chairman she was most supportive of my desire along with those other important people with me, to get the club onto a stable platform and help make the club a peoples club ie : Supporters are valued and we cannot do anything without you.

Jan`s most loyal and best friend was the late Mary Sweet who was another truly fantastic Shots Supporter. Mary passed away at an away game at Slough and in this weeks Aldershot News ( 11th April ) Jan and her daughter Kelly put their annual Memoriam of remembrance to Mary with the following words.

Mary Sweet 19 long years on 14th April. We cannot bring the old days back when we were together, but secret tears and loving thoughts will be with us forever. " We hug you each day in our thoughts ". Love from Jan, Kelly and all your friends at Aldershot Town Football Club.

How ironic Jan`s passing is so close to that date which is today.

Kelly told me that Mary will be delighted to be back with Jan now.

On behalf of Aldershot Town Football Club we offer our sincere condolences to Jan`s husband Chris, Daughter Kelly and Son Sean, along with all other members of the family.

Thanks for being my friend Jan over 49 years. We have always kept in touch and I will always remember you.

Terry x x

Will there be a minutes recognition of Janet's passing before Tuesday/Saturdays game.?
Think applause would be appropriate as she was a lady who would want to celebrate life.
