Mid-Season Break

Post by Portly Stilton Shot » Fri Jun 08, 2018 2:12 pm

Now approved, I understand, for Premier League. To take place in February (mid season?)

What a load of rubbish! What if January's wiped out through snow?

Hope it never extends to our level.

Any other thoughts?

Most Premier League clubs will end up touring the US or Far East during their 'winter break'

The top players already have a mid-winter break - it's called FA Cup Third Round Day. Most Premier sides rest some or all of their top players that weekend so why do they need another break?

As someone else said, they will all just fly off somewhere to play lucrative 'exhibition' matches, which not doubt Sky will pay to televise, so when exactly is the rest these poor little lambs need going to be taken?

Give all the poor hard worked loves a rest and let them all get a cheap holiday.

Again though, you note the FA Cup gets further devalued with the 5th round being switched to midweek and no replays!

I hate the Premier League!

Premier League players are 4 times more likely to be injured in March,April and May than players who play in countries with a mid season break.

As many have said a mid season tour is most likely to happen

Squad rotation already reduces the games the pampered darlings play.

All this does is help the top clubs with their brand

What happens in World Cup year when premier league finishes in June? I thought they need about 4 weeks between final match and departing for wherever the tournament is!

I suspect the FA Cup will move to midweek....bringing the EPL in line with other leagues across Europe.
And yes, of course the clubs will go on warm weather training camps and play friendlies.....just like all the other clubs in top leagues around Europe. This isn't anything new
