Hoping Croatia are mentally and physically shattered from tonight's performance but another tough game awaits.

Who will be our hero? Will Sterling finally get his goal?

What a brilliant international manager Southgate has turned out to be. Bright, articulate, honest, funny, not afraid to make the big decisions.

Proving the doubters (who seem to have disappeared) wrong. Must be feeling pretty satisfied right now.

Really good performance from England, kept possession well and just never gave Sweden the chance to play.

What is also worth a mention is what a pleasure it was to watch a World Cup game where both teams set out to win or lose the game playing football, not wrestling, diving, punching, kicking and all the other nonsense we have had to put up with from so many teams through this tournament.

Plus it was great to see the goal celebrations without the ludicrous piling on top of each other, as in previous games.

Did you see the Croats pile on top of their supposedly injured goalie?

There is some west country chap who would speak on 5live 606 whenever england played and would lament southgate saying he needs to go. . On their all the time.. Love to hear him now we have made the semis of THE WORLD CUP..

Very hard to believe but somehow we have!

Should read........ 'and even' Aldershot, although Pope is not mentioned directly.

Kuipers is the ref so you are screwed....Dutch are out for revenge for the refereeing performance in the 2010 final

What is nice about Kuipers is that he treats everyone the same whoever you are. He doesn't take nonsense from the superstars (if you remember he went off on one at Neymar). I'm always happy if he is ref when NAC play one of the big 3...especially away.

You changed your tune pretty quickly.

Best laugh so far was from Mrs Pip's friend, who knows or cares little about football- "What are the three lines then?"

That would be a typical comment from about 99% of women from the 80’s and up to about the early 2000’s!
