Brilliant. At least he wasn’t a glory boy or foreign tourist that follow them now.
One of my if not my favourite ever football victory. That and those penalties.

At least we can now escape from the ludicrous over hype escalated by the media and football pundits.

The players did their best, but the car crash yesterday was entirely the responsibility of our manager. He overstocked his squad with too many young inexperienced players at the expense of some older heads. His over cautious tactics were predictable and not likely to beat the stronger teams. Croatia soon realized that Christmas had come early.

world cup over - new season on the horizon - last time we got to a semi final there was an upsurge in crowds - so perhaps we might get a few more on the gate at the Rec'

As for England, a good young squad that in the next 4 years will find other players coming through from the under 17-21's, Germany had a similar run 4 years before winning their last world cup with a young squad. Until Croatia play France in the final we will not know how good they really are, but after the 1st half it was men against boys as we failed to deal with their wide players pinging in good crosses, and then did not get off good clean shots at the other end. Disappointed yes but did I expect more, no in all honesty I was hoping. There are other major footballing countries who will be rebuilding after this tournament, us we will be tinkering and adding to what we already have.

As for the media hype - completely over the top - resulting in the stupid beer and bottle fad being spread across the country.

Completely agree about the hype, I can now see why a lot of Scots welsh and Irish like to see us lose, as for showing all these celebrities some of them probably don’t care about football, totally fake!

Bit harsh that, as your assuming that it was mistake to leave out the older more experienced players. Are these the same older and more experienced players who have so poorly performed over the last few years that the biggest excitement at one England match was when a paper airplane thrown from the crowd reached the centre circle.

These young lads are the future for England and it could easily be said they have over achieved in this tournament, fresh management and fresh players untainted by our failures of the past, exactly what we need to restore some belief in our International team again.

I don’t buy the argument about inexperienced players at all. We were well on top for the first half hour and a second goal would have been massive.

Dele got a bad knock and their midfield overran us for the rest of the match. 2 v 3 against those boys and you’re going to get found out.

Where we went wrong was (a) Dele didn’t put his hand up to be subbed and (b) Southgate didn’t overrule him and call him ashore. End of story IMHO.

Watch it again if you have it recorded. Dele got a bad knock and their midfield overran us for the rest of the match. 2 v 3 against those boys and you’re going to get found out.

RLC should have come on for Alli when it was clear he had a knock. Was Kane fully fit?

This whole tournament has been a breath of fresh air and Southgate deserves nothing but credit for getting the nation behind the England team again. Considering how divided the country has become, it's been an absolute joy seeing everyone club together. Probably the first time since the Olympics? Isn't sport great?

We have progressed - and will continue to do so with the younger-group World Cup winners coming through. We will also learn from the Croatia game. Everyone can see that.
