They should boot out the Strikers and give the jobs to people that want to or need the work.

Out of the country at the moment so let me be clear about this.
The only reason these geezers are striking is because they don't want to work /need the work (or even worse both).
Disgraceful.

You have to mention "strikers" on every thread don't you?! Does this count towards your countdown?!
Brilliant Jason. But this time I won’t.
Hope there is a Swan Vesta thread otherwise I will get really confused.

that's kinda of the point though is it not? there won't be any jobs (for the guards at least) - hence the strikes.

Really?
The strike is all about the plans to get rid of guards on trains making them "driver only"
Last Sunday I had the misfortune to travel from Charing Cross to Hayes in Kent on a "driver only" train with my wheelchair bound wife.
I booked tickets for the 3pm train. Filled in the online form for those requiring assistance, emailed south eastern and called them. We arrived well in advance of departure but were not allowed on as the driver "didnt know" how to unlock the ramp and put in place for us to get off at Hayes which was unmanned, despite being a terminus station.
The same story with the 3.30pm and eventually we travelled on the 4pm as they managed to find a member of staff at Lewisham to travel to Hayes with us to let us off.
Had a guard been on the train we would have had no trouble whatsoever.
I for one support the strike, painful tho that may be.

But exactly how does punishing the travelling public solve this long running dispute?

You should easily make that IF the Train from Farnham is 0649 . Most companies will let you board another Train when strike action is involved.

This is point. Sorry if it might inconvenience some but messing up the public week in week out is not winning any friends and turning people against them. Not helping.
Argue it behind closed doors.

i think they probably have been doing that.

Getting rid of safety employees like train guards doesn’t make the railways more efficient, profitable or safer.
Most people realise the “Driver only” issue is just about money as far as the Train operators are concerned.
They are the real villains in this dispute and ALL of the blame for guards striking is completely with them.
I support the guards in this dispute.
Train operatorrs are chasing profits, not safety standards nor protecting the rail network for future generations.
They only have 5 year licences remember in which to make money.
