With the benefit of hindsight, some see it as the club and/or Danny having the wrong priority in that winning the league match would have had greater long-term effect in a relegation battle than putting up a decent show in the cup match.
speaking of priorities

The report from the FA cup game v Middlesbrough, interesting stat that Danny at the time managed 1 league goal in 19 but in the FA cup managed 8 goals in 4 games. Perhaps seeing what a financial mess we were at the time the FA cup was our only hope of getting much needed funds fast.
Our then Chairman saw the cup as a get out of jail card that would rescue us from the financial mire we’d got ourselves into. Hylton gets unnecessary flak for his snow clearance exploits, he was merely a pawn in a much higher stakes game.

The players were not in any way at fault for that decision and some of the older wiser players were desperately trying to persuade Dean to let the game get cancelled, one or two who spoke to me prior to the game were really angry as there was no chance of playing any decent football on the pitch that night and they were worried about sustaining injuries on the frozen surface.

The officials in my opinion were weak and too easily pressurised by Dean and of course the Northampton manager who thought all his Sunday's had come at once (as the old expression goes).

There was a lot of pressure (possibly not well thought out) to get that Northampton game on and it was extraordinary that the Officials allowed it to go ahead. I got to the game (I used my 4x4 to get out of my more rural part of Hampshire) and apart from us taking an early lead, there was nothing to celebrate.

I remember on the night thinking of the infamous Norwich City game back in the 1980's in the fog. How on earth did Officials let it get played? Was it on Police advice, I wonder? I Still often wonder what the score REALLY was!

Mensah got a full game for Imps last night. Missed a pen and described by one fan as "woeful" on their forum.

Kabongo Tshimanga scored a hat-trick for Oxford City at Tranmere in the cup. I thought the name sounded familiar so I looked him up and he played a few games on loan to us from MK Dons in 2015.

Looked to be a decent prospect but was way too lightweight back then, clearly has come on a bit since then...

A 27min goal by much travelled Jon Challinor for Stamford knocked out our FA Cup opponents Kettering Town in the FA Trophy yesterday.

Sadly Jamie Young was the victim of racial abuse during an A-league game at the weekend - his response was picked up by a mic in the goal-mouth:
