Dan Holman Leaves

Post by GWRBA » Wed Oct 31, 2018 10:05 am

https://www.theshots.co.uk/dan-holman-departs/

Was supposed to be the big saviour, but hasn't scored the goals we need him to. Gary mentions the amount of travelling he has to do, and I suppose if you're not playing and scoring regularly it will get you down, but he would have known the distance when he joined.

Shame for both us and him, but maybe now we can get another striker in

Frees up his wages (which were the highest at the club apparently)

Didn't rate him, but he had the the build and physique of a good footballer if that makes sense ?
Lethal in the warm ups though in front of goal

He’s still a quality striker at our level when played as part of a pair , would of liked to see him playing off Rendell in and around the box ..

Agreed - IMO he wasn't given a fair crack of the whip.

100 % agree TS he is decent and was never really giving a fair run in the side.

He will continue to score goals elsewhere

Maybe Gary saw enough in training to know that he wasn't worth more of a chance? I agree, it seems strange that you release your supposed "highest paid player" after only 3 months, but 1 brilliant goal in that time isn't enough. Whether that's his fault or we couldn't get the best out of him is a different matter.

Just hope he doesn't come back to haunt us later in the season, Sean.

Yes, but I think he would score if he stayed in the NL

Had this discussion with the group I attend games with many times and I have never honestly rated Dan at this level

I remember a game at Welling when he was "given his chance" first time he was here and he completely stuffed it up. I think he left shortly afterwards

Yeah, only 30 goals in one season a couple of years ago
