How did we get Ruud Gullit to do that?
He's good friends with Hasselbaink I'm guessing who using his contacts in football.

I tweeted it out at the weekend and tagged people such as Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Mark Chapman and other ‘prolific’ celebrity tweeters but needless to say they all completely ignored it and continued to try to make the devalued FA Cup appear ‘interesting’ instead.

Stupidly I thought it might be ‘newsworthy’ (as I included Hasselbaink’s video in my post) but obviously as it’s not as important as debating if a top 5 club should have got a corner or not, I think it’s safe to say they are not interested!!

No offence Arnie, but why would they be interested in a club that they have no connections with ?

No offence taken Preston Shot! Although I appreciate they have no connection with Aldershot itself, they are ‘football people’ in general and in the public eye with Match of the Day, the FA Cup and very active on Twitter. I certainly wasn’t expecting them to rush out and buy a golden ticket but hoped maybe that a few re-tweets would give a little exposure to our club, that was all.

Has Justin Rose bought any? He's the world number one so must have a bob or two to spare.

..I've just sent him a link about it.....

Unfortunately whilst someone like Lineker is a prolific tweeter and seems like a nice guy- he may have a big platform, but I'm not sure he's as nice as he seems. Does anyone remember that big tax avoidance scandal a few years back, that he was a part of?

Anyway, linekar to me, seems like a guy that has progressive political beliefs but doesn't necessarily follow that line of thinking in his own day to day life.

There are lots of things that this club do right but sometimes they make decisions that baffle me.

I have purchased a few of the Golden Tickets and was disappointed with the letter that was sent with it. I have also had a mail from a friend asking if this was how the club usually did business (which is a shame).

- Photocopy letter and not personalised
- Spelling errors
- Grammatical errors

The scheme is fantastic but I just feel a personalised letter (with the correct spelling) would have been so much better.

UPDATE

I was talking to Mark Butler a couple of hours ago and he asked that if I was posting on here today that I might like to put an update on regarding sales of Golden Tickets to date.

Well great news as of a couple of hours ago we were up to 334 sold which is I think is a wonderful achievement, Mark is quietly confident that we will hit the 400 target and that with people getting paid tomorrow that target could be reached by the end of next week.

Mark has also read the post regarding the letter that was sent out with the tickets. He is aware that he missed a couple of typo's in the letter and will have those corrected for future letters going out. The reason that so many were photocopied was because the chaps in the office sending the tickets out did not want to wait for Mark to come in and sign more originals they made a decision (one I personally think was correct by the way) to photocopy one that they had in the office that Mark had already signed and get the tickets sent out asap. In hindsight perhaps they could have printed off some more originals and someone else could have signed on Marks behalf but the sales were coming in thick and fast so speed won over aesthetics.

Mark has asked me to apologise to anyone who was disappointed with the photocopy, personally I hope that its something that people will understand.

You’d like to think so as it really doesn’t matter!
