Obviously there are no turntables these days so compromises have to be made.. It mustve run round somehow if somewhere it ended up engine first.. Dunno how quite that coudve been done..

That wasn’t right, was it! I don’t know the ins and outs of how they do these things but one would’ve thought that they’d have put the engine facing the front. I’d imagine that there may well have been some disappointed spectators along the way.

Would have gone into Southampton, stopped moved engine to the front and the taken the Salisbury line out of Southampton, missed Salisbury station and carried on to Basingstoke with the engine at front.
