Do you know that for a fact Postie?

It seems reasonable as this season started on first Saturday in August

3rd of August, while probably correct, is ludicrously early

i would have thought with potentially extra games in the FA trophy and a greater likelyhood of postponed games i would August 3rd not a bad time to start

Exactly. Still deep inside the cricket season.

We’ll probably start preseason on the 15th July.
I get the consensus(big word !) that the majority of fans think we just need to turn up to win this league.
How wrong you all are especially if it’s the same structure as this season.
A playoff position will be the best we can hope for

Exactly, just looked and we will still have 9 fixtures to play. Even with a season ticket, I know where I'll be on a hot summers day in the middle of cricket season in the event of a clash.

Very sensible post Preston Shot.

Torquay and Woking being successful this season is creating a false impression that a relegated National League side will automatically be better than everyone else. Torquay have achieved by remaining full time and by having a budget that would be considered good even in National League, Woking to be fair have done very well on a lot less so full credit to them. Some while back there was a list I think on here of NLS budgets (though could have been on another clubs forum) and as that showed there is a lot more money around and some decent sized clubs that will not make winning NLS a walk in the park.

When we played at this level 16 years ago things were very different and we would have been considered a big fish in a small pond, we need to get a dose of reality that this wont be the case this time round, we may have the history of a big fish (which does count for something attracting players) but next season we will be just one of a number of bigger clubs in the league with no divine right to win anything other than on the performance on the day.

Who we playing? Bristol Rovers, Coventry City, Oldham Athletic? No back to playing on park pitches, if we stoop any lower we will be back to suffering cancelling league games as the Hampshire Cup takes priority. It was hard to stomach first time around. If GW does stay his pathetic attempt at tippy tappy football will see us kicked off the park week in, week out. We probably need some good old fashioned Dave Bassett route one aerial combat with 11 nutters on the field - Darren Anderson where are you?
