Division North and South

Post by Charles Dickens » Sun May 17, 2020 9:54 am

At last rare common sense is in the air, as Division 2 and Conference are at least discussing a change to regional split of leagues. Cost saving must take priority as clubs try to recover from huge loss of revenues after coronavirus is overcome.

I said it on here weeks ago. If the shots are to survive it has to be regional football. but got silly comments

Get used to it HW, I started saying this years ago and got the same replies from those with their heads buried in the sand. The days when clubs like Aldershot could compete in national leagues are long gone.

One minor amend:
If the majority of lower league clubs are to survive it has to be regional football.

Would make sense, we ain't going anywhere far from the last 8 seasons we've had. Would benefit attendance as well, I'm sure more shots fans would be willing to travel to more away games if football was regional. Not everyone has time to do a 10 hour round trip for a football match and money to pay for traveling.

I understand there is a few fans who love away days travelling up north making the day of it, but the way things are it ain't practical. You would still get some long trips being regional but its more doable.

The shots fans need to wake up and very soon they will.and let’s be honest there are only 1500 shots fans that go to games me being one but we have a old ground. No income it’s time to get local lads playing for the shots like we did in 1992 we can not compete with the clubs like Crawley or the wood or the Forest or Salford I can go on we don’t have the infrastructure or the fan base so regional football it will be and I don’t think I will be at the rec

Sorry I thought you said you won’t be at the rec, I’m not ok BTW as a life that involves just shopping and delivering about 3 million parcels a day is starting to get increasingly disturbing!

They already have a football club (they play in the Combined Counties league). The locals just need to get behind it a lot more.

Thanks woody but it would be nice to watch a football match, have a good old fashioned drinking session and then if I’m lucky it would be nice to empty my sack but not the red one 😜

Aldershot
Bath City
Barnet
Borehamwood
Bromley
Daggenham Redbridge
Dartford
Dorking wanderers
Dover
Eastleigh
Ebbsfleet
Hampton and Richmond
Havant and waterlooville
Maidenhead
Slough Town
Sutton United
Torquay
Wealdstone
Woking
Yeovil

Guess you could look at it a bit like that if it went regional, that's what you'd get from the southern teams in NL and filled the rest with the top positions from the NLS.
Would fans be happy to see a table like that for a while ?
