Put the Guildford shots in there because we won’t be know as Aldershot anymore like nk dons because we don’t have a ground fit for purpose no support in the local community that’s why we have to move to Guildford in Aldershot. We can only get 1400 to the rec

Heron can I ask a bit more on why you think that would work, I know its a big area but they do have Guildford City there playing and as far as I know there not exactly a well supported club for the size of it. Could it be because they play in the combines league or just people aint that interested in Guildford City football club.
Just want to see why you think it would work.

forget Guildford but if we are to move on. the shots need to move on Aldershot has proved it can not support a league team in Aldershot low support old ground so it must be time to move on a very bad run club and I go back to 1975 so let’s all move on

I always thought Guildford were more of the old long ball players with hoops on.

There is no way a team will be as well supported in Guildford as it is in Aldershot. History will show that even when City had its own ground Shots gates were higher. The public in Guildford show no enthusiasm for professional football or sport in general. If Shots had to merge with anyone it would be Farnborough or Camberley or even Fleet.

The shots will never play at rec again the ground is not fit for purpose. Health and safety won’t allow it. and I don’t no if you. Saw birdman on this site no maintenance being covered at the moment says it all

My old man always used to say to me in the early 70s maybe they would do better if they moved to Guildford. I don't know if ATFC would do better In Guildford, but the root of the problem is the town of Aldershot. It is so unfashionable and run down, that attracting investment and people into it to watch football is almost impossible.

Could say the same about Hartlepool, Scunthorpe and quite few other places that are run down but still support a football club.

Guildford is not a football town. Basingstoke is.

Move Aldershot Town out of Aldershot then it ceases to be Aldershot Town. The club is the town and vice versa. Just out of interest, what year did the original Guildford City go bust because the area was unable to sustain a football club of it’s own?
