Todays Teaser.....

Post by hepcat » Mon May 18, 2020 12:50 pm

Been trying to recall from memory the following with a statto friend of mine;
Name all the teams that have dropped from the First tier to the third tier in successive seasons (plus the two who went from the first to fourth in successive years) then name all the teams that went up from the third to the first tier in successive seasons.
I can think of possibly 6 going down-one doing it twice- and 5 going up but I'm not sure if it happened pre 58 i.e. First division to division 3 N or S or the other way 'round going up.

First to fourth is wolves 84-86 and Bristol City 80-82

I think their route up was 4th to 3rd 3rd to 2nd then up to the first in their second season in Division 2. The route back being similar; !st straight down to the 3rd then the 4th division in their second season in Division 3

I've got Norwich and Southampton -Wolves could be haven't thought of them or did they take a season in the championship before Nuno took them up ?
The first side I can think of going from the 3rd to 1st was QPR 1966-68
