The Man Utd thing fades as I get older Mick, only stems from liking Liverpool as a kid but fortunately saw the light in 1986, still not keen though, I’ve never really disliked Reading to be honest, born and lived there for 5 years but as the rivalry with them was mainly before the 80’s I’m in the camp of being too young to appreciate the rivalry, just, I often mention the money clubs like Crawley, fleetwood, FGR fylde etc but don’t hate them, hate’s a strong word but don’t like what they’re about so would like to see them go back to where they were before the cash point arrived, not keen on Woking but I don’t particularly dislike them anymore like I used to, that’s it to be honest!

I’m so sorry to hear that.
You can’t choose where you are born but glad he didn’t choose to support his home town club.

I would hazard a guess and say West Ham.

I don’t class Reading as my home town Mick, left there just before my 5th birthday and remember bugger all about the place but it will always be on my birth certificate and passport!

As football supporters I would have thought most of us are sportsmen. That being the case I fail to see why we should "hate" or "detest" any opposition. Rivalries yes, but these are strong emotional words.

I'm puzzled here by "Horrid little club from Kingston;" is that a reference to Kingstonian or Wimbledon? If the former then I would most strongly disagree, a very historic football club, one much older than our own, and one which has enjoyed an illustrious history in the annals of amateur and non-league football.

24th October 1987.
Attendance: 6,532.

Best not mention the result of the return home fixture, late in that season.
The home fixture was my first ever game at The Rec. A 3-0 defeat from memory?
