To be fair, the stupidity can work both ways.

Today is the first time in the current wave that we have seen case rates falling across most of the local authority areas in Hampshire.

Hopefully this is the start of the vaccine and lockdown pushing back on the virus. Stay safe everyone and please try to behave, at least for a few more weeks!

Frimley Park Hospital

So sad
I saw that yesterday and somehow that one story seemed to sum up the whole misery that so many families have gone through and sadly some yet to come. It was indeed a very sad story to read and yet at the same time warming to read of the personal care that the staff at FPH showed despite the stress and pressure that they are under.

The horrid article James McLean has been banned by his club Stoke, for posting pictures of himself at a gym.

If you have the COVID Zoe app you will see that it has been slowly dropping for quite a few days now (about a week) which is good news, the information on that is always ahead of the government. No great surprise really as the Christmas f**k up is now behind us, and schools, universities are closed. Hospitals will have their worst period over the next few weeks though which is very worrying.

I think this is why it’s so important everyone stays home as much as possible the next few weeks and only leaves for essentials or exercise.

It really feels like they need to say ‘If you weren’t in a workplace in March, you shouldn’t be now’. All those commuters and (still) packed offices are not helping. It also appears the definition of key worker has expanded since the spring - the schools are busier.

There are quite a few. Lots of bosses don’t trust their staff, unfortunately.

Dr Hannah Fry was on the Last Leg last night and said events at full capacity will be back this time next year. I think she was referring to indoor things but maybe a gradual opening over the rest of this year?

I'd confidently state that this whole pandemic has been made infinitely worse by social media , Far from being a source of information and debate, social media is just a source of conspiracy theories and political echo chambers where everyone just finds something to match their own opinion so as they don't have to prove or answer huge questions through reasoned thought to make their case.
You used to get letters in The old News and Mail (as in other local papers) from the right wing and left wing nut jobs and we all thought-after laughing-that every Town has one of these and their lunacies were pulled apart in the next letters page. Now we realize that the world is full of these idiots and social media gives them echo chambers where they don't have to reason anything out. Maybe it's due to the constant dumbing down of education, but I would hope that you'd get a zero out of ten and a huge reminder that "David Icke is not a reliable source of information" but I doubt it. Read the comments under any right or left wing video on You Tube and it is all echo chamber agreement to an item anyone with the slightest intelligence can pull apart with ease as all the items base their (non) arguments on right/left wing stereotypes and prejudices or non science and use the language of the bigot to any comment that stumps them ("Sheep" "Sell out" "Zionist stooge" "Fascist " all the by rote cliches )
Can't see anyway out of it, Idiots like to think they are geniuses by telling us the Moon Landings were faked and the Royal Family are Lizards. They are no longer laughed out of court via the local letters pages; they've found millions of other similar idiots on social media.

Hepcat - there’s a documentary on Netflix about this called The Social Dilemma. Have a watch if you haven’t seen it.

Agree with every word of this.

Whilst the majority of conspiracies are easily discredited, the supposed moon landings can be disproved by simple science. The Van Allen belt makes anything other than low earth orbit impossible for humans, even with modern technology space shuttles remain in low orbit.
