Problems logging in to ShotsWeb? Please read..

Post by RC-Moderator » Tue Jun 11, 2019 12:18 pm

We still get a few emails each week from people struggling to login to Shotsweb following recent technical changes.

These are almost always resolved by clearing your browser cache; and ensuring bookmarks correctly point to the secure site located here:

https://www.shotsweb.co.uk/

If you are unsure how to clear your cache - here are instructions for some common browers:

Internet Explorer 11:
Click on the cog-symbol in the upper right corner of the browser and open the menu "Extras".
Select the item "Internet options".
In the tab "General" you can find a section "Browser history". When you click on the button "Delete" a new Window opens.
Remove all checks despite the selection "temporary internet and website data" .
Click on the Button "Delete" to empty the browser cache. In comparsion to other browsers there is no option to select the time period. You'll delete all cache data.

Chrome:
On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click More .
Click More tools Clear browsing data.
At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
Click Clear data.

Safari/Ipad
Launch the "Settings" app on your iPad through the home screen.
Scroll down the menu and select "Safari".
Scroll down to the bottom of right hand panel and tap on "Clear History and Website Data".
Confirm by tapping "Clear" from the pop-up window

Are you using http or https. The latter should be the one to use (you should be seeing a padlock in the address bar. If not then you’re using http). Also, if you have http as your go-to link then delete it and replace it with https (or try putting an ‘s’ at the end of http). Hope that helps and makes sense.

*I’ve just logged into my iPhone using https and didn’t have a problem (straight in).

You may need to google instructions for Android phones etc. - Message still stands, clear your cache (even on a phone)
If on an IPhone these are the instructions:

IPhone/Safari
Follow these steps to clear out the Safari cache on your iPhone:
Open the Settings app, and scroll down to the fifth group of options (with Mail at the top). Tap Safari.
Scroll down again and tap 'Clear History and Website Data'.
Tap 'Clear History and Data'

tried both http and https but they do not work, perhaps an explanation as to why we might have to clear our cache might help us understand,
as we never had to do that before what has changed?

I used my phone for years and never had to clear the cache, why the bloody hell should I have to start doing it now?

Do we know why the site no longer allows you to log in from a mobile phone,
most of us use them it should be sorted out, surely it is not that difficult
the phone works fine so the problem must be with our site. If the reason is known then please share it with us.
